Abstract
Mkangombe Primary School is a public educational institution located in Ndavaya, Kinango, Kenya.
Before the installation of solar power, the school faced significant challenges. Teachers were unable to effectively use digital learning tools such as tablets, and students could not arrive early to study or complete homework due to the lack of lighting. Learning activities were heavily dependent on natural daylight.
Since the installation of solar energy, the situation has greatly improved. Teachers are now able to integrate technology into their lessons, and students can study independently in well-lit classrooms, even in the early hours. The wider community has also benefited, as residents are able to charge their mobile phones at the school.
According to Acting Head Teacher, Mr. Ali Mwalimu, the school has also gained the capacity to use a printer, something that was previously unavailable in the area. This advancement has not only enhanced the quality of education but also strengthened the school’s role as a resource hub for the community.
